At that time it was just me, 6 sewing machines and lots of ideas
04.12.2022
Almost a year ago, Nojolia - at that time it was just me, 6 sewing machines and lots of ideas - moved into the new large 150m2 workshop. To be honest, I thought I had really dared too much this time. I was terrified.
And even in January I had no idea how much energy 2022 would consume and then give back at the end of the year. If I had known before, perhaps I would not have come this far. But as often in life I did not know... So here we are, December 4, 2022.
Over the last 12 months my little brand “handmade at home by mum Janne” has grown enormously.
Today we are 3 women who work full time designing, producing and selling Nojolia Street & Loungewear.
I have learned to pass parts of the work process to the new staff and they in return are giving so much new energy to this project.
All this precious energy is reflected in every detail of the garments we produce. This energy makes us authentic and strong.
Eli has taken over the entire sewing process, as well as keeping us young and dynamic (😜 he's 25 years younger than me) and Elisa takes care of the photos, the website, the online shop and continues to push me and kick my ass ♥️.
Yesterday our new shop went online. It was a silent process... we worked hard and almost manfully without spreading it too much. For Elisa it was the first site and online shop she created from scratch. For me it was the first time I trusted, without opposing (too much 😬).
First of all, we wanted to review and redesign all our processes. Understand how we want to proceed from now on? We needed a precise plan, to define how we want to survive in the jungle of fashion as a small independent artisan laboratory.
And if so, HOW?
We encountered several difficulties in truly defining the small things in depth. It was not easy to decide how to streamline the procedures to be more effective without losing our identity. But we were tenacious. We talked a lot. The three of us have a great energy to address the issues that are close to our hearts. And in the end we made all the decisions.
We have cleaned up our image, improved our way of working and tried to visualize our customers. But most importantly -> we do not want to compromise on our principles.
Every piece we sell is made in our workshop with respect and love. We do not exclude any body type, we continue to make garments for every body and shape. But at the same time we have created a size chart based on our customers and the pieces we have made over the years. We did not want to adopt the ideological size chart of the standardized fashion world.
We want you to come as you are. We want you to feel comfortable with us. We want to make you feel at home and pamper you. So we want to continue as before, only more efficient. Slowly (metaphorically speaking😂 because compared to a year ago we are very fast) and with consistency.
